Ben Roth was the original engineer of the space freighter the Spacehog in the New Earth System. When he died in a freak accident, his wife Babe was left with their son Filbert and their daughter to raise, along with half of the Spacehog. (COMIC: Doctor Who and the Dogs of Doom)
