Complete Works of Shakespeare

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference
Complete Works of Shakespeare

The Complete Works of Shakespeare was a book that the Doctor tried to carry with him whenever possible.

When the Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith visited 16th century Kent, the Doctor carried a copy in his breast pocket. It saved his life when a man named Nicholas Skeres stabbed him, thinking him Christopher Marlowe. (PROSE: All Done with Mirrors [+]Loading...["All Done with Mirrors (short story)"])

While collaborating with ruler of New Britain Mariah Learman to remove Shakespeare from history, the Daleks offered Learman a shielded copy of the Complete Works of Shakespeare in exchange for her cooperation so that only she — in her words "someone who truly appreciate[d] and venerate[d] his genius" — would know of his work. After Learman was forcefully mutated at an accelerated rate to replace the Daleks' dead pilot, they upheld their end of the agreement by inserting a memory sphere containing the Complete Works into the positronic linkages between the mutant and the casing, thus ensuring the Learman Dalek retained full knowledge of Shakespeare.
