Hi. The new wiki seems to have been received quite well, on the whole. One of the benefits of being off Fandom is that we now have access to a ton of data from various sources. I thought I'd go through some of that to give everyone an idea of how the wiki's performing.
Firstly, the announcements:
- The main Twitter announcement has received 101.9k views, 269 retweets and 756 likes. This translated into 520 total link clicks to actually go to the new wiki. The reaction to this tweet was very positive and I am satisfied with the reach it has received. Spreading the word was the main goal of the initial announcements, and this succeeded there.
- A number of other announcements by other accounts also received large numbers of views, likes and retweets, spreading the news even further.
- The main r/DoctorWho Reddit announcement has received 69.4k views and 506 upvotes. The response here was also very positive. This post was also pinned to the sub, meaning that it appears at the top, helping even more people to see it.
- Someone else also made their own post about the news. This received 1.2k upvotes and the response was very positive.
- The main r/Gallifrey Reddit announcement has received 18.6k views and 253 upvotes. Yet again, the response here was very positive.
A number of other posts sharing the news were made elsewhere, further aiding in the sharing of awareness.
Now for the page views. These have been, I will say, far less than on Fandom, but that was always expected. A lot of our views on Fandom came from search engines like Google. Beating Fandom in this area will take time.

In this time, our analytics estimates that 7.8k unique people visited the site. I think this is good, considering the reach of our announcements.

This is not brilliant, but beating Google will mostly just take time. So far, it's only indexed 373 pages. That means only 373 pages are currently able to appear in Google search results. As time goes on, this number will increase.
The final thing I wanted to touch on was performance compared to Fandom. Google Lighthouse is a pretty standard tool for testing this, along with a number of other metrics. I ran it on Fourteenth Doctor, both on the new site and on Fandom. Here are the results (each metric is scored out of 100):

To clarify. I think admins had some level of analytics while on Fandom. Roughly how far off are we from the traffic there? One order of magnitude? Two? Just to understand how much work we have here. Najawin ☎ 22:54, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
- If I recall it correctly, I don't believe the people who were admins over there were allowed to disclose any details of those analytics. Doubt that changes even now they've left. JDPManjoume ☎ 23:19, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
- We can share small amounts of info. On Fandom, we were getting around 100k daily page views, so we're getting quite a lot less. However, I believe that most of the Fandom page views came from search engines, an area we are not yet strong on and that will take time to rebuild. Bongo50 ☎ 19:01, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
