Was the village named in dialogue anywhere in TV: Countrycide? If so, at what point? -- Tybort (talk page) 18:55, February 3, 2012 (UTC)
- I watched this ep twice today, once solely listening to the soundtrack and the other time scouring the images for any sign of set decoration that gave the town away. I didn't find it. Then again, it's not my favorite of eps and my mind could have strayed just long enough to miss something.
- Still, I don't think so. I'm quite prepared to say that neither Brynblaidd nor Brecon Beacons appears anywhere in the ep itself. This seems to derive solely from the episode description provided by the BBC on the official website. So there is some "official", but non-narrative, basis for it.
- Not sure if it's better to go with Unnamed village (Countrycide) and the put a note in the behind the scenes sction, or to keep it as it is, and have a BTS note. They both seem to have equal advantages and disadvantages.

- Torchwood REF books use the name Brynblaidd, like Torchwood: The Encyclopedia and The Torchwood Archives. Of course, being REFs, they aren't incredibly reliable resources, but it's a name for an otherwise unnamed article. 220.244.162.100talk to me 11:49, February 23, 2012 (UTC)
- It is definitely not mentioned in the episode. It should be moved to, as CzechOut said, to Unnamed village (Countrycide). MM/Want to talk? 16:46, February 27, 2012 (UTC)
- Just to be clear, I didn't actually say that. I said I didn't know if it were better to keep it with the name or to give it the "unnamed town" moniker. If it were just REF sources, I'd agree without hesitation to the "unnamed town" route. But that's not where we are. We do have the BBC itself on its official description of the episode giving it the name. This description is then used by every other TV listing around the world where Torchwood is shown. Any time you look at your local listings for this episode, you will likely see "Brynblaidd". "Brynblaidd" is thus the most common name for this object, and one you will have encountered without having to buy anything else. Far as I know, it might even be in the series 1 DVD liner notes — but I'm not certain of that as I've long since dispensed with the packaging.
- This situation is closer, in my mind, to being the case of the character who's only named by the credits, than it is to being something derived from, say, The Brilliant Book. Indeed, the description has been in place on the BBC Torchwood site from the time the episode first aired. So it comes from the contemporaneous production team, and is therefore likely something that's specified in the script.
- We don't really have policy erected for this scenario, because this situation has never arisen. Thing is, though, even if we did go to "unnamed town", we'd have to keep the redirect anyway. Enough people would have seen the episode description that they'd attempt to search on it. So the question isn't about actually deleting "Brynblaidd". It's about whether it's better to clearly indicate through the official title that the name isn't defined, or if it's sufficient just to have a BTS note.
