Publisher's summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

There are 10,000 humans in stasis aboard Starship Future. Ten thousand humans expecting to wake up on a distant planet, their new home. But twenty years into their journey, Starship Future takes on board fuel – and something else. Something that's been waiting, frozen in space, for a very long time.

Something malevolent.

Something with a plan.

Unless the Doctor can help, it looks like the people of Starship Future have no future at all...

Notes[[edit] | [edit source]]

Textless cover
  • The ending of this story is a cliffhanger leading into the escape room A Dalek Awakens.
  • This story was recorded remotely on 15 and 30 September 2020.
  • The BBC approached Big Finish with the offer of writing this story, reaching out to them to see if they had interest in writing a companion piece to the Escape Hunt games. Meetings were then had between staff from Big Finish, the BBC and Escape Hunt. (BFX: Genetics of the Daleks)
  • In this story, the starship is referred to as "the Starship Future" by Pilot Finlay, and this is also used by the synopsis. However, Jonathan Morris instead refers to it as "the terraforming spaceship Future" in BFX: Genetics of the Daleks (which seems more in line with how it is referred to as "The Future" in A Dalek Awakens).
