Malenkov was a member of the Soviet government under Joseph Stalin and a member of the Communist Party Politburo.
He was described as tall and fat.
In 1951, he attended dinner parties at Stalin's dacha with other high-ranking Politburo members which included Beria, Khrushchev, Molotov, and Bulganin. Of this group, Malenkov was the closest to friends with Khrushchev, although neither trusted the other.
Malenkov praised Stalin at these parties, but privately speculated on his increasing paranoia. He noticed Stalin's increased belligerence and was wary of attacking the United States. Malenkov believed Stalin was near death within "five or ten" years, and speculated that his alcoholism had "rotted his brain". (PROSE: Endgame)
