Grathnave

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference
Grathnave

Lord Grathnave of the Erstwhile Collision, credited in the transcript of the first performance as the Gravedigger, was a character in William Shakespeare's play Hamlet.

Yorick once poured a flagon of Rhenish on his head, with Grathnave describing him as a "whoreson mad fellow" after his death. In the presence of Hamlet and Horatio, he claimed to exhume the skull of Yorick but it was actually the missing second skull of the Fendahl which had been missing for centuries. When the clown arrived on the scene to retrieve the skull, exposing Grathnave's true identity in the process, he attempted to take the skull from the clown. However, he tripped up Grathnave with his scarf, causing him to fall into a grave of his own creation, allowing the clown to depart with the skull unopposed. (PROSE: Hamlet)
