i noticed in the impossible astronaught both amy and river have hold their yet stomachs and say they feel sick. amy when she is in the oval office and just before the astronaught apears. ( she then tells the doctor she is pregnant). river when she goes back into the hole after forgeting about the silence down there.
is it possible that they are either linked or that river is also pregnant. we dont really have enuogh info to speculate about yet but what do people think. any ideas 88.104.144.238 11:26, April 26, 2011 (UTC)
- I was wondering about that too. Amy seems to be in quite alot of pain for it to be just the pregnancy unless there is some kind of complication. And if the stomach pains are from the pregnancy then why does River also get them?
- I'm thinking that maybe the stomach pains are from the aliens because with the exception of right before Amy tells the Doctor she's pregnant, they all occur right after seeing and forgetting about the aliens. V00D00M0NKY 12:50, April 26, 2011 (UTC)
My guess is that even that stomach pain is from the aliens and that Amy's pregnancy has nothing to do with them. Perhaps Amy thinks that they are caused by the pregnancy since she cannot remember the Silence, much the way River blamed it on prison food.MasterIII 17:25, April 26, 2011 (UTC)
- Fair enough but even so, why did she get the pain right before telling the Doctor she's pregnant? Unless she saw one offscreen that we don't know about. Or the pain could be progressive where it gets worse and happens more often. But I belive the pain is from the fact your body is still in scared mode and your mind has no idea why. That could make you feel sick. V00D00M0NKY 17:49, April 26, 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, they didn't really answer why sometimes they make people sick, but that's the most obvious answer. Panic and stress cause stomach pain, and it's worse when you can't actually react, so why wouldn't it also be worse when you don't even know you need ot react? --99.33.26.0 07:38, May 5, 2011 (UTC)
In one of the preview scenes, where they are telling Canton about the Silence, Amy says that they sometimes make people feel sick, but not always.Icecreamdif 19:40, April 26, 2011 (UTC)
If the silence are the cause of the stomach pains then why do we never see the doctor or canton or rory in pain after forgetting the aliens? Its possible that its just a coincidence that only amy and river feel the pain after seeing them but it could mean some kind of connection between river and amy. Psychdoc
I don't think it's likely that the pains are just the result of the silence.. Here is my theory- Both River and Amy are pregnany (to some extent.. only in Dr Who!). The idea that the stomach pain is a result of the Silence is really a quick-fix explaination for Amy. River is clearly lying when she tells Rory that her pain is the result of the prison food, and *see above* no other person under the influence of the Silence has expressed this symptom before.
If this is the case and they are both pregenant, then we can look at the regenerating-spacesuit-girl as potentially being the child of River and the Doctor. There is solid physical textual evidence of their future/past relationship, and if they were to have a child, then it is likely she (XD) would have a combination of human and gallifreyan DNA. The picture of Amy and the little girl as a baby, I assume, it Stephen Moffat have a jolly good time messing with us Whovians. While she may indeed be pregnant, I think that the regenerating-spacesuit-girl is not her daughter.
Does anyone think it's odd, say the doctor dies for real as *Matt Smith*, that River Song would need the spotter's guide, when she only ever met two versions of him? I know she said he never appeared in the right order, but now it seems that they are doing everything perfectly backwards, save for the singing towers, where he gives her the sonic screwdriver... gotta love Dr Who :) Alpha_Centauri
In the past, any human-Time Lord hybrids have followed the species of their father (Leela and Andred had a Time Lord baby, Susan and David had a human baby, the Doctor is half-human on his mother's side, although that could just be Leela and Andred again...). So, if the Doctor and River had a daughter (and if Moffat is as much of a Doctor Who geek as RTD), she would presumably be able to regenerate. That said, I agree with you that it's probably not River's daughter.
Meanwhile, I don't think the 11th Doctor's apparent permanent death means he's the last Doctor. While that would be one way of avoiding the 13-incarnations issue, it would make it pretty hard to continue the show, unless they can somehow keep Matt Smith alive, young-looking, and under contract for the next 200 years. There are all kinds of ways Moffat could get around the apparent death, and I'm sure Moffat has taken one of them. (See other threads here, and on just about every online forum, for different speculative ideas for how it will be explained away.) --99.33.26.0 08:42, May 9, 2011 (UTC)
The girl being the Doctor and River's daughter probably does make more sense than it being Amy's daughter. Of course, Amy's pregnancy scan does suggest that if she is pregnant, there is something odd about her child, which does seem to suggest that the girl is her daughter, but it is possible that Amy's pregnancy is something completely different. Despite what River said in The Impossible Astronaut, all other evidence would suggest that River and the Doctor meet in a random order, probably in a generally reverse order, but nor perfectly reverse. Otherwise, the diary is completely useless, but River didn't seem surprised when the Doctor had met Jim the Fish before. In Silence in the Library, River commented that the Doctor was younger than she had ever seen him, but if she met him in a perfect reverse order, this would always be the case. Chances are that time will somehow be rewritten at some point to erase the Doctor's death.Icecreamdif 02:15, May 10, 2011 (UTC)
- Indeed, there's so much "keep them confused"-writing with Moffat it's just useless to try to guess ahead; at the extreme "time can be rewritten" is always the last ditch resolution ;-P
- Regarding the order of River and the Doctor meeting: just look at "Crash of the Byzantium"/"Pandorica", though this is the order these events occur in the relative flow of time for the Doctor and Amy, for River it's the other way around. (TV: Time of Angels/TV: The Pandorica Opens) The general rule of "your firsts are my lasts" seems to hold true though throughout their relationship, as indicated by the Doctor's first kiss with River and her obviously being downcast when realizing this. So far we have usually seen the Doctor meet River in reverse-order, but their have only been four meetings so far(from the Doctor's point of view), out of what must end up being hundreds, or at least dozens. However, we have seen them meet out of order before. At the beginning of The Impossible Astronaut, River met a version of the Doctor who had shared several experiences with her, and she did not act like this is out of the ordinary at all. Either way, since most of their meetings are just planned by River leaving messages for the Doctor to find at some point, like the home-box and the oldest cliff face in the universe, it would be incredibly unlikely that the Doctor would just happen to find her messages in perfect-reverse order. What River seems to mean, is that when she first met the Doctor she generally met older versions of him, and now she is generally meeting younger versions of him, but it is not in any exact order, and their are exceptions to the pattern.Icecreamdif 22:52, May 10, 2011 (UTC)
