Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- Madeleine Astor was the wife of John Jacob Astor IV, who was the richest passenger onboard and considered one of the richest men in the world. Unlike him, Madeleine survived the sinking of the ship. The neighbourhood Astoria in New York City is named after her husband.
- The newspaper does not state the first name of "Mrs Astor". However, the prominent placement of her name in the article clearly points to the wife of the richest passenger onboard.
