Match of the Deity was the sixth story in the Bernice Summerfield anthology Something Changed. It was written by Eddie Robson.

Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

Doggles consoles Benny after the funeral for Jason. They meet up eight years later and rekindle their relationship.

Benny refers to archaeological work that she did on the planet Vulcan.
Cahlians have rough red skin, three toes, hair like pine needles, and have modified eyes that can see in brighter light than humans can.
Eight years after the history machine malfunctioned, Benny works at the Jackson City Academy on Mars.

Like most of the other stories in this anthology, this story takes place in an altered timeline created by Doggles' history machine; these timelines are (mostly) erased when Braxiatel returns things to normal.
