A motorist existed on a parallel Earth.
When the Third Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith attempted to hitchhike after arriving on the parallel world, the motorist stopped his solar powered car to talk to them. Believing the duo to be their criminal counterparts, the motorist begged the Doctor not to hurt him and fled from his vehicle proclaiming that he could keep it as well as the money he had.
The technological advancements on the man's car led the Doctor to deduce that he and Sarah had travelled sideways in time. (COMIC: Who's Who?)
