A group of humanoids lived in the Librarinth of the Needle toward the very end of the universe.
They could only remember their futures, not their pasts, so they recorded all of their experiences in journals. Each individual had his own theory as to his past: Willhuff believed they were the Children of Kasterborous; Gordel believed they were the super-evolved survivors of the Thal race, fleeing the Final Dalek War; Helios supposed that they were from the People's "Accidentally Left Behind When Everyone Else Transcended This Reality Interest Group", though he later told the Infinity Doctor that he had memories of coming to the Needle to continue his father's business.
The Needle believed that God had created the Librarinth and that he was hidden behind one of its many doors. Helios, who alone retained some memories of his past, knew the location of the door, which the Infinity Doctor discovered was in reality an entrance to Omega's anti-matter universe. When the Magistrate and Larna came to the Needle looking for the Doctor, they froze the Needle People with Z-caps.
The Needle People wore outfits that resembled the shinobi shozoku of the Japanese ninja. They survived by eating sweet mushrooms and fighting off the Maltraffi. (PROSE: The Infinity Doctors)
Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- In Daniel O'Mahony's A Rag and a Bone, published in Myth Makers Presents: Essentials in 2003, it is mentioned that the "Needlefolk at the End of Time" tell each other stories of Gallifrey's ancient history and the Doctor's adventures.
