Niamh was a conspiracy theorist. She was Welsh but went to university in Bath, which meant that her grandmother did not deem her "Welsh enough" to know about Torchwood.
Together with Jeff Morris, Niamh presented the podcast Cardiff Unknown. (AUDIO: Cardiff Unknown - October 2018) Whilst recording a podcast about ScrapeJane, Jeff was killed by a force invisible to Niamh. This event traumatised her. (AUDIO: ScrapeJane)
