An Orthopteroid was a giant fanged insect that resembled a cockroach. They hunted and devoured other creatures.
One Orthopteroid arrived at Penarth Pier through the Rift in the 2000s. Detecting its arrival, Suzie Costello called a phone booth on the pier and spoke to Emlyn Crook, transmitting a signal to keep the Orthopteroid there to give her time to arrive by taxi. The Orthopteroid killed several people before Suzie shot it with a beam emitter, making it absorb enough muon particles that a rift opened around it and sent it home.
