Potato Head (known until 2021 as Mr. Potato Head) is an American toy brand, invented by George Lerner, and distributed by Playskool. It was first conceived and released, under its original name, in 1952, as a box of plastic body parts with pushpins to be affixed to a real potato or other vegetable. Then-manufacturer, Hasbro, began including a plastic toy potato with the parts in 1964, which has been the standard ever since.

The original, male-presenting character was joined in subsequent years by Mrs. Potato Head, which came with traditionally feminine body parts. The brand name was ultimately shortened to remove the masculine honorific for a gender-neutral name.
