Signet (The Confession of Brother Signet)

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Brother Signet was a member of Faction Paradox. He was a consummate librarian, professing that he preferred to stay in his library and read rather than take an active part in the War effort, but when push came to shove he proved to be a ruthless and far-reaching operator.

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

During the heyday of the Eleven-Day Empire, Brother Signet had a library in the Empire. He generally stayed there, reading, not having much emotional involvement in the ebb and flow of the War in Heaven. (AUDIO: The Confession of Brother Signet) He met Cousin Lucifer shortly after the latter joined the Faction, giving him free access to his library so that he could learn more about human culture. (AUDIO: Lucifer)

He was present during the invasion of the Eleven-Day Empire by "potato-headed goblins" (AUDIO: The Confession of Brother Signet) which ended with its destruction by Lolita. (AUDIO: The Shadow Play) Making it out alive, he was filled with a newfound willingness to help the Faction's cause. He came up with the idea of recruiting fictional monsters to fight the Faction's battles in the War. Using a timeship, he made his way to a version of the planet Earth that was identical to that described in H. P. Lovecraft's writings.

There, he successfully collected an otherworldly, sentient colour and a pack of inescapable hounds that could hunt through angles. When his third mark, the Shoggoths, proved too hard to control, he tracked down Abdul Alhazred, famed as the author of the Necronomicon. He discovered that Alhazred had yet to write his grimoire, and ended up ghostwriting it for him before moving on with his mission, successfully capturing Cthulhu. This finally attracted the notice of Nyarlathotep, the dark and powerful herald of Lovecraft's gods, who chastised him for disturbing the dreams of Azathoth and cursed him to die within a few days in penance. However, Signet was able to free himself from the curse by ritually sacrificing dozens of people inside a Catholic church to Azathoth, trading off their lives for his own. While the poison he had released in the church took effect, Signet kept the priest busy by telling his story to him in a confessional. (AUDIO: The Confession of Brother Signet)
