History[[edit] | [edit source]]

In Ballots, Blood and Bullets – Political Chaos in Post-War Germany, a book published in 1927, Karl Muller described Nazi policies as "a windy mixture of nationalism, socialism and, above all, anti-Semitism". (PROSE: Timewyrm: Exodus [+]Loading...["Timewyrm: Exodus (novel)"])

When Zoe Heriot suggested that there would be fewer wars if women ran the world, Jennifer Buckingham asked if she was "one of those new socialists." According to Jennifer, socialists "believe[d] in a lot of nonsense." (PROSE: Doctor Who and the War Games [+]Loading...["Doctor Who and the War Games (novelisation)"])

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

In the real world, the Nazis were not socialists. However, they did use socialist ideals in propaganda in their effort to win power. In the context of Timewyrm: Exodus [+]Loading...["Timewyrm: Exodus (novel)"], Muller describes the Nazis as socialist several years prior to their coming to power in 1933. Ultimately, socialists were considered enemies of the state by Hitler, and socialism considered inimical to the aims of Nazi ideology.[1][2]
