OK, let's see... | |||
We have pretty strict guidelines for aliases. In short, nicknames and descriptions are not aliases, nor are variations of a person's name (including married names). We also only want '''notable''' aliases, so minor ones for characters who have several aliases will not be listed in the infobox. Infoboxes are not meant to be long lists or descriptions of things, and not every field needs to be filled out.
One thing to keep in mind, as the Mr Pond example shows, is that there are plenty of rules violations that haven't been corrected yet, so any time you're in doubt, just ask.
As for the [[journalist]] article, my edit summary was "prefix", not previous fix. I don't know if you did it, or if it was just the visual editor at work, but a couple of the <nowiki>[[TV]]</nowiki> prefixes were changed to something like "TV Century 21". It was probably just the auto-suggest, and you didn't even notice what it did. Since I don't really know for sure, it's hard to say how to prevent it, but the best way to prevent errors on any edit is to use the "preview" button to check out your edit before you hit "publish".
Now about the questions you didn't ask ;) I've put cleanup tags on the occupation pages you created. There were quite a few issues, and if I list them here, you'll have a handy place to guide you next time you create pages.
* [[Tardis:In-universe perspective|In universe]] articles must relate to the DWU. So far these pages are just job descriptions. There should be examples from stories on these pages. In addition, the descriptions should come as much as possible from story sources. For example, on the [[vegetable]] page, the definition comes directly from the text of the story.
* Please see [[Tardis:Citation]] for how to source pages in the correct format. (Not a problem you had, just a useful page to read.)
* All pages must have a category. [[Tardis:Categorization]] explains the policy and links to other category-related policy pages.
* As you've already discovered, in-universe pages must be written in the past tense. You can read more about types of pages at [[Tardis:Point of view]], [[Tardis:In-universe perspective]] and [[Tardis:Out-of-universe perspective]].
I realize this is a lot of policy pages that I've thrown at you, but to be honest, they explain the rules far better than I can. Also, at the risk of sounding like a complete geek, I actually like reading the policy pages; I've learned a lot about the wiki by doing so.
If you plan to create more occupation pages, I suggest you look at the existing ones at [[:Category:Occupations]] to get an idea of how to write them.
Sorry for the length of this post and thanks for your attention. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me or any other [[admin]]. [[User:Shambala108|Shambala108]] [[User talk:Shambala108|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 02:31, June 2, 2014 (UTC) |
