== Similarity to Ursula Le Guin short story == | |||
This story is thematically similar to "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas" by Urusa K. Le Guin. Omelas is a prosperous city with a terrible secret: its prosperity requires that a single innocent child be imprisoned and kept in perpetual misery and filth. All citizens learn this secret when they come of age, and they must choose whether to stay (and accept the suffering of the innocent) or leave the city.
