The Doctor's TARDIS: Difference between revisions

The TARDIS could extend an [[oxygen]] bubble, or [[air shell]], for a distance beyond its doors, allowing them to be opened while in [[space]], ([[TV]]: {{cs|The Runaway Bride (TV story)}}, {{cs|The Beast Below (TV story)}}, {{cs|Listen (TV story)}}) and even allowing individuals to survive outside the TARDIS. ([[TV]]: {{cs|The Horns of Nimon (TV story)}}, {{cs|The Beast Below (TV story)}}, {{cs|The Time of Angels (TV story)}}, {{cs|The Time of the Doctor (TV story)}}, {{cs|Oxygen (TV story)}}, [[GAME]]: {{cs|TARDIS (video game)}}) This could be used to create an [[air corridor]], which the [[Eleventh Doctor]] once used to rescue [[River Song]] from the [[Byzantium (ship)|Byzantium]]. ([[TV]]: {{cs|The Time of Angels (TV story)}}) At one point, the bubble even allowed the Eleventh Doctor and [[Rory Williams]] to camp outdoors on Earth's Moon, although the Doctor indicated that the bubble only had a finite amount of oxygen. ([[TV]]: {{cs|Legend of the Sea Devils (TV story)}}) The TARDIS was even able to generate the bubble after being blown apart in an explosion, though the air supply was severely limited as a result. ([[AUDIO]]: {{cs|Get Andy (audio story)}}) On at least one occasion, during which [[Salamander]] attempted to launch the TARDIS with the doors open, the TARDIS did not protect the console room from the effects of the vortex.
