On returning to the Worldsphere with the stunned !X, Fos!ca speaks with God. God hints (though does not explicitly reveal) that he influenced events to make sure that the "birthing" of MEPHISTO happened properly - including bringing Bernice to a world that is interstellar neighbours with Tyler's Folly. He also says that he will return !X to Paradise. Meanwhile, on Tyler's Folly, Pupp's successor looks over the interrogation files and begins to think of ways of getting revenge on Professor Bernice Summerfield. | |||
