While exploring the mysteries of the Martian Sphinx, the Doctor, [[Louise and Susan]] are captured by [[Dalek]]s who have moved into the Sol system, closer to Earth. The Doctor and Susan escape with the help of the native Martians and are taken to a city beneath the Sphinx where the Doctor activates a dormant fighting robot lying under the Sphinx itself. As the Doctor rescues Louise from the Daleks (who have learnt about the Doctors TARDIS), the robot attacks and destroys the Dalek’s Martian base.
