Supreme One (Deadline)

The Supreme One was a being in Martin Bannister's delusional fantasy of being "Doctor Who" in a parallel universe.

Biography

Martin Bannister imagined himself, as Doctor Who, and his companions, Susan, Ian, and Barbara, captured by the Supreme One's guards on an alien world. According to the Supreme One, while it did wish to enslave all life in the universe, this was not actually how it got its name, which was "just a happy co-incidence". When Doctor Who asked it if it was "totally evil", its voice morphed into that of Sydney Newman, and began mocking him for poor characterisation, and telling him that he was never a good writer, even before he began work in "genre" fiction, and his work was all "theme, theme, theme", declaring "what rot!". Its voice then further morphed into that of Sydney, and requested an interview with him for the official Juliet Bravo magazine, after which it would take over the universe. It then commanded its guards to take Doctor Who, Susan, Ian, and Barbara to the dungeons. As the travellers were dragged off, Doctor Who admitted that he was unsure what to do. (AUDIO: Deadline)

Behind the scenes

• The Supreme One is based upon the Perfect One from the unproduced television serial The Masters of Luxor.
• The Supreme One was voiced by Ian Brooker, although he is uncredited on both the CD case and Big Finish's website. Ian Brooker's role is confirmed on his personal website, as well as by inference from the fact that both of the characters whose voice the Supreme One is heard to take on are credited to him.
