This conversation was ported over here from Talk:BBC iPlayer (channel), from a time when there were briefly two pages on the wiki: BBC iPlayer and BBC iPlayer (channel). The discussion revolves around whether that split, which occurred in late 2016, was a good idea.

Two pages[[edit source]]
Does this actually need a separate page from BBC iPlayer? I'm of the opinion this should all go in the BTS section there, including the category.

- As BBC iPlayer grows I'm sure it will in a Doctor Who sense and not all the information can be contained in a BTS section. I still have much more information on the iPlayer to add. Besides from this the Doctor in Universe refers to it as merely iPlayer so surely that needs to be changed to suit the reference? Yeah, it's me "Denchen"... I couldn't believe it either. ☎ 22:49, November 15, 2016 (UTC)
- I agree with SOTO that we don't need two separate pages for this. Shambala108 ☎ 23:58, November 15, 2016 (UTC)
- In The Time of the Doctor, the Doctor said iPlayer not BBC iPlayer, that is partially my reasoning. I think the DWU concept needs to be renamed. Yeah, it's me "Denchen"... I couldn't believe it either. ☎ 07:29, November 16, 2016 (UTC)
- We were even recently(-ish) discussing merging the BBC articles into one, and those are both quite long. Editors and readers alike will not know where to link to/click for what. Confronted with either "BBC iPlayer" and "iPlayer", or "BBC iPlayer" and "BBC iPlayer (channel)", no one will know what's what. Even as the content here expands, it will read just as well on the bottom half of the regular BBC iPlayer page. There are many articles out there with just one sentence in-universe and paragraphs in the BTS section. That's simply a consequence of T:POV.

- SOTO makes many valid points here. Both pages should be combined into one as per other similar type pages. Shambala108 ☎ 16:54, November 16, 2016 (UTC)
