On the TARDIS Wiki, we can only write what we see/hear in the official show and its spin-offs. It wasn't mentioned to be 2012 in the episode so we should remove it, right? Title

Thing is it's how casual conversations work though. Usually you'd say "I just watched Last House on the Left" not "I just watched The Last House on the Left." Or "Amazing Spider-Man 2 was...interesting" or "What was up with Spider-Man 2" rather than quoting the full title. Direct reference to the film... or to the genre?

The film gets its name from a specific section of horror (mostly slasher) films: Most of the Friday the 13th films, the first 2 Evil Dead films, the House films (and the unofficial La Casa spin-offs), Night of the Living Dead and many others and parodied/homaged in The Cabin in the Woods, Tucker & Dale vs Evil and Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon.

The term existed before the film, and the term was the reason for the film getting that name. All I'm saying is that I'm not convinced she was referencing the film or the genre (people in a remote place being killed off one-by-one).

Have to admit I agree that the reference is most likely to the film subgenre rather than a specific movie. As said above, not only does the film take its name from the phrase used for the type of films collectively, but also, as the episode is set in the 2100s I doubt someone from that time period would specifically mention just one film of a genre which are all remarkably similar (and which Under The Lake also fits into).
