Should we have articles on Doctor Who fan clubs, unless they're notable (as I don't know anything about fan clubs I don't know how notable this one is)?--GingerM 18:53, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

I don't mind having the clubs on here myself, particularly significant ones. The style on this one needed to be totally cleaned up, which I've done, though it's only a stub now. I've also removed the 'Gone to Pot' and 'Deleted!' templates for now, unless someone still thinks this needs to be removed? --Sofaman 08:43, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
Perhaps a page / list dedicated to Doctor Who fan clubs (which have a notable web presence) around the world). If any of them have something notable on offer then have a page dedicated to them. (For instance I think the Doctor Who club of New Zealand released some novelisations of the (un-novelised) TV stories (that's Shada, Revelation of the Daleks...and some other ones). --Tangerineduel 14:27, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
We should probably decide if we're going to cover fandom at all or not. I don't necessarily think that whether or not a group has a web presence should affect whether it gets into the wiki, that seems a bit arbitrary. Personally I don't think fandom should be in, cos the potential for self-promotion/navel-gazing is a bit high (and there's plenty of stuff about the TV show etc which still needs doing). --Gai-jin 14:44, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
I agree, Gai-jin. There's plenty of data about the show yet to add, without getting into the tangled mess of fan club data as well. Perhaps to keep it manageable we could have a simple page of external links ("List of Doctor Who Fan Clubs"), divided into geographical region. If it stays at a manageable size, then great; if it gets out of hand (i.e. with hundreds of list entries) then we would have to revisit it. I think that basic information could be valuable; if people want to know more about any given fanclub, they can just follow the link. --Sofaman 15:06, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
I've had an additional think about this (and then a glance in my very long list of Doctor Who links) we may be tripping into hot water (or something like the corona sphere of a sun) with this topic as what exactly constitutes a Doctor Who Fan Club. I'm going to turn around from my previous comment and vote against having any thing. Even a list of Fanclubs is going to leave some out (which may lead to abuse of the list). --Tangerineduel 16:33, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
Fair call, I can go along with that - if the list is too unwieldy and the definitions too arbitrary then it just wastes time and energy better spent. I've put the "Proposed deletion" template back in. --Sofaman 17:11, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
