Phonetic spelling[[edit source]]
- By the 50th century, phonetic spelling was common in English. For instance, "Emergency Exit" was spelled "Emergensee Eggsit" and "Service Elevator" was spelled "Servis Ellyvater".
We don't know how English phonemes will change in the remote future, but "ellyvater" is not a phonetic spelling but a misspelling. A truly phonetic spelling would be "ĕlˈə-vāˌtər" according to the American Heritage Dictionary. Movsar ☎ 17:25, May 15, 2015 (UTC)
