Talk:Resurrection gauntlet

Discussion page

This should totally have been called "The Power Glove" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_Glove). --82.41.82.198 01:51, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

You should totally have been called "the Headless Horseman who has too much time on his hand". --203.168.176.42 13:45, July 18, 2010 (UTC)

Part 2 of the end of time[[edit source]]

please remove if this is a spoiler, but the second glove seems to appear in the second part of the end of time and is actually mentioned on The Narrator's page. It can kill, the opposite of the resurrection gauntlet, and is on the narrator's left hand, the opposite of this one! --Torchwood 2 19:08, December 28, 2009 (UTC)

I caught that as well, although it's not necessarily the second glove... there may be more than one pair of the gloves out there, although it would be interesting if this winds up being the origin of the gauntlets.MythicFox 05:48, December 29, 2009 (UTC)
Regardless, it's fanon. There is nothing in End of Time or any other source to suggest the gauntlets had anything to do with each other beside being most likely recycled props. If a future episode or novel or comic strip or audio drama makes the connection, then fine, but until that happens this is a terrific example of "fan-created canon", or "fanon" , and as such it has no place in this article. I moved the reference into Behind the Scenes, but even then if someone wants to delete it totally, feel free. 23skidoo 23:18, February 20, 2010 (UTC)
I doubt it to be a case of "recycled props" haha. We've never known the true origin of these gloves (and they were used in the very start of Torchwood) and we've been told that it's estimated that each pair could have different powers/capabilities. Russell T Davies would not have written it in for no reason. Moreover, they have Continuity people over in those shows and although some tiny things slip through the net, I very much doubt that a whole prop would be overlooked. haha. It's worth at least mentioning and possible simply stating that this gauntlet bore a strong resemblance to the one seen in the End of Time Part Two and that a connection between the two is not yet verified/explained. Risen mitten[[edit source]]

Risen mitten

in they keep killing suzie they are all stood about talking about the gauntlet owen say's "we never thought of a cool name for it" and tosh says "resurrection gauntlet" to which owen replys "I said a cool name" Ianto says "risen mitten"

later when they get the knife out and it doesn't have a name they all look to Ianto to name it who say's " life knife" which then seems to be the name for the knife which would suggest that the gauntlet is being called the risin mitten

then later again jack stuns the bloke in the club and says "that ones for Ianto" then looks up says "risen mitten, life knife, stun gun"

if some one has evidence to say its not called the risen mitten please inform me but I believe thats what it should be called

You have to understand that these are nicknames. Unfortunately, more precise terminologies have to be used for objects in the Whonivese unless an exact name/title of an object is used/released. Calling this "Risen Mitten" is misleading because an outsider may not understand the joke behind it having to rhyme and more over, it's not a mitten haha. "Resurrection Gauntlet" does exactly what it says on the tin and unless another (more appropriate/suitable) name is released by the team of Torchwood (whether it be in show or behind the scenes) then we can only leave it at this. :) TheFartyDoctor Talk 04:16, April 25, 2012 (UTC)

Armour[[edit source]]

Gauntlets of that particular type were usually part of a full set of armour. Not heavy plate mail (which is generally what you think of for a knight) but more a footman's armor usually. This might suggest that there's a full suit out there, rather than just scattered pieces. Yes, I know, semi-speculative, so don't chastise me about that. More going for "thoughts"?13621 11:34, August 15, 2014 (UTC)

If you would like to have a discussion that involves speculation and opinions, please take it to Howling:The Howling. Article talk pages are for discussing the editing of pages, per Tardis:Discussion policy. Thanks. Shambala108 15:47, August 15, 2014 (UTC)
