Talk:Wrack

Discussion page

Item to be questioned[[edit source]]

The statement was listed that Wrack was an old word that meant "destroyer". I've looked at this and so far, it seemed to be a bit of a confusion with the word Wreck... Or the phrase Rack and Ruin... Or the claims of a Middle Dutch word, wrak, that meant shipwreck. The last one would be particularly fitting. But given the amount of conflation and the difficulty of actually researching this point without consulting an etymologist with relevant expertise, I've removed it from the page. If a source can be found to show a definite between any such phrase and the writers' intentions, then it would be worth adding back in. But for now, it is rather a complex situation to uphold on the page itself. JDPManjoume 22:46, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
