Temporal orbit

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

A temporal orbit was a manoeuvre involving a TARDIS travelling back over its own time stream and holding in orbit over a single temporal location. The Eighth Doctor also used a temporal orbit to develop a cure for Janusian radiation sickness after Sam Jones had died from it, in order to be able to return prior to her death and save her. (PROSE: The Janus Conjunction)

The TARDIS once forced itself into a temporal orbit every time the Doctor tried to leave Earth. (PROSE: Autumn Mist)

The Eighth Doctor entered a temporal orbit in order to give himself enough time to read and transcribe The Darvias Saga. (PROSE: Best Seller)

The War Doctor "parked" his TARDIS in a temporal orbit while preparing the possibility engine to employ in the Tantalus Eye, against the Daleks. (PROSE: Engines of War)

In one account, the maneuvre which allowed Professor Chronotis to come back to life after his mind was stolen by Skagra involved a temporal orbit. (PROSE: Shada)

According to Marnal, the frequent use of temporal orbits was partially responsible for the paradoxical and contradictory past and future of the Eighth Doctor. (PROSE: The Gallifrey Chronicles)
