The Feminine Mystique

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference
The Feminine Mystique

The Feminine Mystique was a book written by Betty Friedan. It espoused "new feminist thoughts".

Barbara Wright had a copy of the book that a friend who lived in America had given her. When she disappeared on 23 November 1963, her bookmark was near the end. Her mother Joan kept the bookmark in place while she was gone.

When police came to her house as part of their investigation, they asked Joan a lot of questions about this book, imagining her as "some kind of radical subversive, ready to strike out on her own". (PROSE: A Long Night)
