Pokémon is a Japanese multimedia franchise released by The Pokémon Company, a joint venture of Nintendo, Creatures Inc. and Game Freak.

The franchise is oriented around creatures known as Pokémon and their friendships and bonds with their trainers, with numerous criminal organisations attempting to harm the creatures or to reinvent their world in a grandiose way, usually necessitating the destruction of the current one. The series takes place in number of different universes, divided typically by the medium of stories they're depicted in.

While the franchise has never had an official or direct crossover with Doctor Who, only with the latter occasionally having cultural references to the series, a number of frequent advertisements were placed in issues of the children's magazine Doctor Who Adventures.
