Thanks for your recent edits! I'm Jimbo, your robot wiki representative! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is actually a great time to have joined, because we're now fully independent, and working on a host of new features!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a fan written wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.

British English, please

We generally use British English 'round these parts, so if you use another form of English, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.

Spoilers aren't cool

We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.

Other useful stuff

Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! —  you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:

Re your message on my pageedit source

Hello Catkind Thank you for asking me my opinion about your idea. A slight modification, I would make sure there is protection on the individual pages. Bigshowbower 12:41, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

n/a on individual infoboxesedit source

I've been altering many of the infoboxes on this wiki so if you don't put something in a field on an infobox it won't appear. So for individual infoboxes that don't have an actor, don't put anything and the actor field won't appear. Thanks. --Tangerineduel 06:04, October 14, 2009 (UTC)

Actors who have appeared in Eastendersedit source

That should be fine, my general rule for categories is as long as there's more than 3 things within that category than it's okay to exist (anything less than three they can usually be classified elsewhere). --Tangerineduel 14:41, November 4, 2009 (UTC)

Feature Articleedit source

Hi. I've been in the slow process of trying to work out a way to make the Feature Article process get some sort of results. As such I've just implemented a new Feature Article process, see Feature Article policy (now obsoleted) and Feature Article nominations. I've added your nomination of The Trickster to the December nomination, if you'd like it to be for a different month feel free to move it. I'm hoping this system will give us actual results rather than the stalled system that's current in place. Thanks. --Tangerineduel 13:17, November 7, 2009 (UTC)

Templates for every Doctoredit source

I'm fine with it in theory (I haven't really worked on any of those specific novel boxes).

The only issue I see ahead is that dealing with other Doctors (other than the Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh Doctors) is that Doctors One - Seven have all been in novels across at least two ranges; the Virgin New/Missing Adventures and the BBC Books Past Doctor/Eighth Doctor ranges. (There's also the Telos Novella range to consider)

Would these Doctor novel templates be going on the individual Doctor pages or the various novel pages? I'm just worried about the size and focus of the template as these templates would cover 2-3 ranges, unlike the current novel templates that just cover the NSAs.

If all this information's going to be contained on within the template it's going to need to be clearly marked out. Though this would create quite a long list to cram into the template especially for the Seventh and Eighth Doctors.

The Torchwood novel range is actually quite simple and straight forward much like the Ninth/Tenth/Eleventh Doctor novel templates. --Tangerineduel 13:06, January 4, 2010 (UTC)

DeltonMenaceedit source

I like that you stand up to him. As I read the Howling before the last specials, he seemed to go insane! Someone needed to stand up to him, and you do a great job returning everything to the rational. I'm on your side. Zach Schmidt 23:49, January 8, 2010 (UTC)

I don't think it is about sides but he dos go of on rants. --Catkind121 09:47, January 9, 2010 (UTC)

New usersedit source

A wiki is by definition an open and editable by anyone, so forcing new users to read the MoS is tricky.

If there was a way to make them look at the MoS when they clicked an edit button it would need to be applied across the whole wiki and for all users (in theory anyways).

Any new users you come across you can always add the Template:Welcome IP template to their page: (you can leave your signature after the | like this --~~~~, or just leave it as this . This adds template with links off to the help page and other pages that may be of use to new users. Thanks, I and the other admins will continue to keep and eye out for vandalism. --Tangerineduel 13:44, February 18, 2010 (UTC)

Cleanupedit source

For the Time Field page, what exactly is it that needs cleaning up? The Thirteenth Doctor 13:13, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

  • Just now it can actually be in present tense as the cracks are an ongoing thing. See here. Other than that, I can't see anything that's outwith the Manual of style. The Thirteenth Doctor 13:24, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
    • But I'm not wrong. Even if you think I am. The manual of style clearly states that ongoing events are not in the past tense. The cracks are presently ongoing, so should be in the present tense. The Thirteenth Doctor 13:35, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

Assistance with a discussion on the forumsedit source

Hi, I'd value your input/discussion on this topic in the forums Forum:Italics or Quotation marks?, I'm not comfortable making a ruling solely based on a running conversation between myself and CzechOut and would value other regular editors' points of view on this issue. Thanks. --Tangerineduel 06:36, June 24, 2010 (UTC)

Christmas cheeredit source

Happy holidays!

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.

2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!
