Thanks for your edits! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is a great time to have joined us, because now you can play the Game of Rassilon with us and win cool stuff! Well, okay, badges. That have no monetary value. And that largely only you can see. But still: they're cool!
We've got a couple of important quirks for a Wikia wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English round these parts, so if you're American, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.
Other useful stuff
Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:
- the listing of all our help, policy and guideline pages
- our Manual of Style
- our image use policy
- our user page policy
- a list of people whose job it is to help you
If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! — you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:
Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:Thanks for becoming a member of the TARDIS crew! If you have any questions, see the Help pages, add a question to one of the Forums or ask on my talk page. -- CzechOut (Talk) 17:40, 2013 January 19
Pictures[[edit source]]
Hi :) Thanks for joining our wiki. I hate to have to greet you by telling you that virtually all of your work today has been deleted. But I wanted to stop you before you add an overwhelming amount of incorrect material.
Please read T:GTI, T:ICC and Tardis:Image use policy before continuing to upload pictures.
It's vital that every picture have a license and that pictures be of the correct dimensions and size. Picture size should not exceed 100kb (yes, that's kilobytes) in total size. There are clear signs posted at Special:Upload which tell you the requirements — in addition to those listed in the above-linked policy pages.
It's also really important that the names of files be descriptive of their actual contents. Filenames like "Scan0005.jpg" are completely unhelpful and they make the picture liable for immediate deletion.
If you have any questions about how best to proceed with picture uploads, please ask me or any other admin.

- Thanks for trying to comply with the above. Your efforts are very much appreciated. One tiny little thing: when taking illustrations from DWM, please don't include artist bylines. Instead, leverage the power of the wiki by including the linked name of the artist on the file description page.

Promotional image[[edit source]]
The picture you added to the Eighth Doctor page has been removed as it is a promotional image that is not depicting an in-universe event. On the rights page you have stated that this picture comes from DWM. Please can you add the picture to the DWM issue that it belonged to, and if it didn't actually belong to an issue of DWM, I will have no choice but to delete the image. --Revan\Talk 20:39, February 16, 2013 (UTC)
Recent edits[[edit source]]
Hi! I had to fix some of your recent edits. I'd like you to take a look at the changes I made to the following pages: The Nightmare of Black Island (novel), The Resurrection Casket (novel), and The Feast of the Drowned (novel). Specifically, for all continuity/reference sections, you must use complete sentences; all story titles must be italicized; and any entry in continuity needs a source. Thanks! Shambala108 ☎ 15:24, April 28, 2013 (UTC)
Charlotte Pollard[[edit source]]
Hi! I reverted your recent edit to Charlotte Pollard, and I wanted to explain why. Per Tardis:In-universe perspective, all in-universe articles must be written in the past tense. In addition, the article must focus more on Charley, and less on the plot of the stories in question. Character articles are not merely rewrites of the story plots. You can change the verbs to past tense and weed out unnecessary details. Thanks! Shambala108 ☎ 14:45, May 10, 2013 (UTC)
Spoiler policy[[edit source]]
Hi there. I'm just writing to let you know that I've been forced to delete the page you created for Trouble in Paradise. The page was deleted because it violates our Tardis:Spoiler policy, and cannot be recreated until the story has officially been released. --Revan\Talk 15:34, May 11, 2013 (UTC)
Full stops after citations[[edit source]]
I've noticed on a recent edit to The Doctor's TARDIS you've added full stops (aka periods) after the citations. Do not do this. They do not to be there. The citations are contained within the round brackets, they are not part of a sentence and do not need the full stops on the end. --Tangerineduel / talk 16:13, May 22, 2013 (UTC)
Complete sentences[[edit source]]
Please use complete sentences when adding information to the reference sections of story pages. Take a look at how I've changed your edits to Eater of Wasps to see how we do it here. Thanks! Shambala108 ☎ 20:24, May 22, 2013 (UTC)
Plagiarism[[edit source]]
Your recent edits to the Short Trips: Past Tense story summaries are in violation of Tardis:Plagiarism. You have copy/pasted these from another site. Stop doing this now. Familiarize yourself with the policy, and if you have done this with any other plots/summaries, you need to remove them from the wiki. Shambala108 ☎ 14:34, June 16, 2013 (UTC)
Block[[edit source]]
Because you have continued to violate Tardis:Plagiarism in spite of my warning above, I have blocked you for one week. This is a very serious matter. Please take this week to familiarize yourself with this policy.
You will be able to respond here on your talk page. Shambala108 ☎ 20:21, June 29, 2013 (UTC)
Christmas cheer[[edit source]]
As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.
This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!
We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.
2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!
