Uploading new versions of images[[edit source]]

Hi, please DO NOT upload different images as new versions. New versions must be the same image only a new version (such as a higher resolution or cropped white space). --Tangerineduel / talk 12:29, January 5, 2011 (UTC) im sorry if i have done this i had no idea i was doing it this only my second day ever using a forum or editing a wiki so i really have no idea what im doing.can you tell me what i would have done to upload a new version of an image? iateda

With regards to the deleting of the images that you uploaded new versions of I didn't delete them per se, I reverted the upload to the previous versions of the images. This is because for one of the images you uploaded an image of Martha Jones, but the image (and the page that image was on) was a picture of the Valiant. Additionally some of the images you uploaded new versions of had copyright tags which related in no way to the images you were uploading new versions of.
When you upload images you'll get a warning if the image with the same file name already exists on the wiki it reads "A photo with this name has already been uploaded to the wiki. Please check File:FILENAME.jpg if you're not sure if you want to change it. Once uploaded, this photo may take up to 2 minutes to be visible." It will also display an image of the file that already exists on this wiki to illustrate that the image already exists.
Every new user who edits on this wiki gets the Welcome template added to their page (which is above this message), it has links to the help pages and the Manual of Style both are useful places to start before editing on this wiki. Thanks. --Tangerineduel / talk 14:09, January 6, 2011 (UTC)

Christmas cheer[[edit source]]

Happy holidays!

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.

2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!
