Welcome to the Tardis:About NickM98

Thanks for your edits! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is a great time to have joined us, because now you can play the Game of Rassilon with us and win cool stuff! Well, okay, badges. That have no monetary value. And that largely only you can see. But still: they're cool!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a Wikia wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English round these parts, so if you're American, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.
Other useful stuff
Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! —  you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:
~ ~ ~ ~

Thanks for becoming a member of the TARDIS crew! If you have any questions, see the Help pages, add a question to one of the Forums or ask on my talk page. Doug86 06:59, November 9, 2014 (UTC)

"Gauntlet of Rassilon"[[edit source]]

There is zero basis for that name, though. Is it even stated that the gaunlet is an Artefact of Rassilon?

Merges[[edit source]]

Hi! You're operating under a misunderstanding of how a merge works. It's not just a matter of deleting and retyping content. A merge is designed to preserve the page history of both pages, and as such can only be done by an admin. That's why your edits were reverted. Thanks. Shambala108 04:34, February 28, 2017 (UTC)

Block is extended for the repeated violation[[edit source]]

Initially, I only blocked you for the minimum time to explain that merges can only be performed by admins and you should not try to force them unilaterally. I was intending to unblock you as soon as this is explained. However, it turns out that this has already been explained to you, and regarding the very same page. You have by now made two editors clean up after your edits. To prevent this from happening in the future and to impress on you that you may not initiate a merge yourself just because you think enough time has passed and, in fact, cannot make the merge properly, I see no other way but to block you for a month.

Next time you feel strongly about the need to change something urgently, I advise you to contact an admin and persuade them of the emergency you are experiencing. Amorkuz 09:59, May 21, 2017 (UTC)

Communication on this wiki[[edit source]]

Given the apparent clash of wiki cultures, let me lay down our rules. First, it is expected that everyone follows their own talk page. On the other hand, it is not expected that others have to follow your talk page. Take, for instance Shambala108 who has about 100k edits under the belt. Such users cannot possibly follow each of the thousands of pages they've edited. Thus, if you need somebody's attention, you post on their talk page.

If, on the contrary, you want to primarily talk about something that has a page, then the discussion should happen on that page.

Topics touching upon more than one page have their rightful place in one of the forums, depending on the topic. In this case, for instance, there are two pages involved, Clara's TARDIS and TARDIS (Hell Bent). So a post on one may be missed by someone reading the other talk page. Forum discussions are closed by an admin. Until this happens, it is prohibited to start editing the disputed pages based on the arguments of the discussion per T:BOUND.

All this is notwithstanding our spoiler policy, which prohibits discussing unreleased stories almost anywhere.

The right to move, delete and merge pages is also reserved exclusively for admins.

For the record, you can still edit your talk page. I left this ability so that you could contact me if need be.

Another thing you need to understand is that, though we always try to respond to editors and explain things, and indeed both admins involved with these TARDISes of yours did respond to you, we are under no obligation to do so and certainly under no obligation to respond within a certain time limit. All admins are volunteers who spend their time in the service of the wiki but not in the service of any individual editor. The same principle applies to renames, merges and deletes. Each request requires time to process (and typically a lot of tedious maintenance work) and there is no guarantee that it would be processed within a week, a month or, indeed, even within a year. Some forum discussions are dragging on for years without a resolution. My favourite example is Thread:183821 which is 1.5 years old and shows no sign of closing despite my numerous attempts to nudge it towards the finish line. We all need to have patience.

And to be completely honest with you, upon a very brief look at they issue you care about, I do not see it as open and shut at all. Thus, it is always important to wait for an admin to confirm that a) the consensus has arrived and b) it does not violate any policies. Amorkuz 16:38, May 21, 2017 (UTC)
