Aftermath and legacy[[edit] | [edit source]]
The Torchwood Foundation Charter of 1879 named the Doctor as an enemy of the Crown. (TV: Army of Ghosts) In 1899, members of Torchwood Cardiff captured the immortal Jack Harkness after he was heard openly speaking of the Doctor. This led to him being employed as a field operative before assuming command of the Cardiff branch following the suicide of Alex Hopkins on 31 December 1999. (TV: Fragments)
Whilst listing the things she had seen against Sarah Jane Smith's own experiences with the Doctor, Rose Tyler acknowledged a "real-living werewolf". (TV: School Reunion)
Tracing the ghost shifts of Rose's time in the late 2000s, the Doctor and Rose were drawn to Torchwood London. There, the Doctor met director Yvonne Hartman, from whom he learnt of the organisation and its origin stemming from the encounter with Queen Victoria and the werewolf at Torchwood House. (TV: Army of Ghosts) It was in the resulting Battle of Canary Wharf (TV: Doomsday) that Torchwood's "old regime" was destroyed, leaving Jack Harkness to lead the remains of the organisation in the Doctor's honour. (TV: The Sound of Drums)
The Eleventh Doctor told Amy Pond that he met Queen Victoria in Scotland "along with martial arts monks and werewolves". He also revealed that the Queen "invented something called Torchwood just to annoy him".
