Wylfa was the sole nuclear power station in North Wales following the mothballing of Trawsfynydd. Speaking in September 2006, Lord Mayor of Cardiff Margaret Blaine was aware of the "notorious divide" between North and South Wales, joking that she had no desire to re-open it in light of her planned Blaidd Drwg, pointing out that a nuclear power station in Cardiff would "[make] the score one-all!"
