Charles was a geneticist. With his wife, he had experimented on their baby son, Starkey, granting him an alien immune system. They themselves dissapeared some time afterward. Starkey would not know this until he encountered the Oroborus, which he was immune to due to his alterations. (K9TV: Oroborus)
