Doran was one of Lady Adrasta's scientists. He wrote a paper that tried to prove that the Tythonian ship was the remnants of an old temple. Adrasta punished him for his failure to correctly identify it and had him thrown into the Pit. There, he died of fright. The Fourth Doctor discovered his body. (DW: The Creature from the Pit)
