Metella

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Metella was the Wife of Caecilius and the mother of Quintus and Evelina. She was a woman that lived in Pompeii in 79 AD. On the day before Vesuvius erupted she saw her daughter have a vision of the future. This prophecy was in fact the future that Pyrovile had planned. Her husband bought a blue box which he thought was modern art but was really the Doctor's TARDIS. Later that day the Doctor arrived at her home claiming that the blue box was his. Later when Lucius Petrus Dextrus arrived he brought with him She part of an ancient Pyrovile spacecraft which she and her family thought were plans for future buildings. Later that day after her son and The Doctor had left to go to Lucius' house he summoned a Pyrovillian Foot soldier which attacked her family and killed one of their servants. On the day of the eruption she and her family huddled up as ash and rock fell on them. Donna while in the TARDIS asked the Doctor to go and save them, so he rescued them in the TARDIS. She and her family plus The Doctor and Donna watched from afar on a hill as Pompeii was burried under ash and rock. Six Months later she was happily living in Rome and thankful to The Doctor and Donna by worshipping them as the Household Gods. (DW: The Fires of Pompeii)

Behind the Scenes

  • The Caecilius family (Caecilius, Metella and Quintus) were based upon characters used in latin text books. Except for Evelina who was created by James Moran so she could be a member of the Sibylline Sisterhood. Metella however was not mentioned in the tomb of Caecillius as no other wife of Caecillius was mentioned ether.
