There as been a couple of suggestions in the past that we removed the 'List of appearances' pages and merge them onto the character pages - like what Wookipedia do. I propose that we do this - just for any character that has a list of appearance page - and then change the info box from 'Appearances' to 'First Appearance'. Any other suggestions and arguments?

Sounds good.Boblipton talk to me 15:06, December 26, 2011 (UTC)

That could be a good idea. I would suggest formatting it more like Memory Alpha does, just because that takes up much less space, but either is really fine. Having a seperate page for appearances seems kind of pointless.Icecreamdif talk to me 17:13, December 26, 2011 (UTC)
I think Wookipedia style presents information far better than Memory Alpha's although, I couldn't even find MemAlpha's list of appearances on the character pages.
I'm not sure about changing the infobox from "Appearances" to "First Appearance" as while it would make sense for this changed style it makes less sense for all the other pages out there where there's just one story or a list of a couple. --Tangerineduel / talk 13:49, December 27, 2011 (UTC)

Reviving

Over the past couple of weeks, I've installed some code which bears directly on this discussion. It's now possible to put the whole list of appearances in the infobox in a way that collapses the whole list down to a single line. When you want to look at the list, you expand the list; when you don't, you put it away. Would this not be a better way to handle appearances, since it would not require users to leave the page?
