Okay, I think we need to come up with one way of the numbering in the New series. There seem to be a few different ways of doing this, varying on different pages. I've tried to come up with a compramise, and usually put it as "Series 3/ (Season 29)" as appropriate. So can we agree on the format for the numbering? Jack's the man - 11:54, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

It should just be Series 3, season 29 is an arbitrary number (which doesn't take into account the TV movie, which given its own logic should, which makes it doubly odd) and exits as a 'fan term' for the new series'. --Tangerineduel 13:57, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
I absolutely concur with Tangerineduel. The new series should go by the way it's officially designated by the BBC. This halfway house of "double-numbering" series is just silly. They are clearly two different series from a production standpoint, even if there is some narrative homage given by one series to the other. CzechOut | 17:07, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
Agreed it should be numbered by Series with the season information left of the Series article Dark Lord Xander 23:11, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Archivist's note

Although this looks to be a slam dunk of a policy changer, in fact we still do double-number new series of DW.
