Katherine Jenkins (born 29 June 1980) is a classically-trained singer who made her acting debut as Abigail Pettigrew in the Doctor Who story A Christmas Carol.

She claimed on the 10 December 2010 edition of The Graham Norton Show that she had been approached by the Doctor Who production team because the "part is an acting part, but there's also singing involved". Having no experience with acting, she believed that her audition would be "rubbish". However, they rang her back on her thirtieth birthday and told her she had won the role. As of March of 2012, Katherine will take part in the 14th season of the celebrity dance-torture show, Dancing with the Stars, alongside other celebrity hopefuls such as Martina Navratilova, Jaleel “Steve Urkel” White, Gladys Knight, Donald Driver, Jack Wagner of Melrose Place, Melissa Gilbert of Little House on the Prairie, and Derek Hough, best friend of Cheryl Cole. She will compete for America’s affections on Season 14 of Dancing with the Stars, premiering Monday on March 19.
