Big Finish's main range of Doctor Who audio stories features the adventures of mainly the Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Doctors, complete with large casts, sound effects and scores. Treasure Trail was a 1976 Fourth Doctor/Sarah Jane TV Comic story that was a pure historical set in the waning days of World War II. Although many other Doctor Who stories were set during the Second World War, Treasure Trail was unusual for portraying the Italian resistance, and was almost certainly the only Doctor Who story in any medium to depict the Nazi plunder of European art. | ||||||
Article of the minute1980's State of Decay featured the first use of overtly vampiric themes in Doctor Who televised history, while at the same time providing many details about Time Lord history. It was also the subject of an infamous behind-the-scenes battle over whether writer Terrance Dicks or script editor Christopher H. Bidmead would exert the greater control over the script. Dicks largely won that battle, thanks to the insistence of director Peter Moffatt — but "Uncle Terrance" would nevertheless go on to write two other, distinct versions of the story.
