Talk:Doctor Who (1984)

Name needs to be changed

In light of the introduction of the IDW title, it is no longer appropriate to call this title simply Doctor Who (USA). That title could equally refer to either the Marvel US or the IDW run. Thus, the name (and associated acronym link, DWUS) need to be changed.

The acronym/code is a particularly thorny issue as there are at least three separate titles that could be considered "DWUS", if you throw Doctor Who Classics into the mix — although it would make more literal sense to abbreviate this one to DWC. Indeed, if any title "deserves" the acronym, DWUS, it's really the IDW run of Doctor Who, since it's the only one of the three to be home to (significant) original material.

I personally think that the least ambiguous thing is to refer to them as comic indexers normally would; that is, to append the date afterwards. Doctor Who (1984) and Doctor Who (2008). Perhaps the code would then be DW84 and DW08. CzechOut | 06:26, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
