Forum:List formatting
Main text most commonly uses list format (expressed with < ul> and < li> tags) for lists of 4 items or more. However, we seem to have shied away from using lists in infoboxes and in tables, preferring instead to separate items with a < br />, doing away with the dot in front of each line. I've seen such infobox lists stretch for over 20 items.
Did we ever reach a consensus on proper style for lists in main text, in infoboxes, and in tables? -- – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Gousha (talk • contribs) .
Archivist's note[[edit]]
No one answered this thread, perhaps because it was originally unsigned. T:NO HTML forbids the use of HTML ul/li tage directly in text. The infobox redesign since this thread was started doesn't establish a single standard. Instead, it's generally recommended that bulleted lists be avoided, preferring comma-separated lists. If there are a large number of points, the template {{bp}} provides a standardised approach to vertical listing.
