1692 was notable for being the year in which the Salem witch trials were held in the colony of Massachusetts. The event was of such keen interest to the First Doctor he was there on four separate occasions — so often that he risked creating a temporal paradox. On some of these occasions he was there with his granddaughter, Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright.
