Derek was the name of an alien 'accaquaintance' of the Doctor who was "the best Elvis tribute act in the cosmos". Caught out by the Doctor doing a gig in Detroit in 1970, he obliged the Doctor by capturing (using his ships teleporters), a gang of Morpuse that he agreeed to drop off safely on an alien planet.
