IndexPanopticon → Origin of welcome template for anon IP users
Spoilers are strongly policed here.
If this thread's title doesn't specify it's spoilery, don't bring any up.

This may have been mentioned before but on this wiki the number of anonymous users seems to be greater than logged in users. (At least when i am on-line)

I think we need to try and get these users to create an account and become part of the community in order for the community to grow (also to allow them more access so they can continue to help build the wiki). A good way of doing so would be to leave messages on IP talk pages of users who are frequently present.

Just an idea what are your thoughts --Dark Lord Xander 07:33, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

I agree with this idea, I think that all new users should be welcomed with a message and a few useful links possibly to help get them started and involved, and the IP address users message should be something like:

"Hi, Welcome to the TARDIS Index File wiki project. Your recent contributions are appreciated, looking forward to more. Feel free to sign up and create a user account to help you get more involved in the project here. See you around the wiki."

In the end though if they don't want to sign up we leave it at that and let them contribute as an IP if they choose to. --GingerM 18:34, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Great Idea although perhaps a template like the welcome template Dark Lord Xander 00:46, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

I've created this template, Template:Welcome IP. Is that fine for people, any adjustments or changes people want to make to it before we start using it?--GingerM 15:45, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

I think perhaps a different colour and image to distinguish it from the new user template Dark Lord Xander 06:24, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

I changed the colour and image so its easy to distinguish between the two different welcomes what do people think ? (I quite like the image) Dark Lord Xander 06:47, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

It's certainly a bold colour (though it sort of reminds me of the snot from Kalid in Time Flight...) . But it's clear and bold, the picture is also very bold and striking (though not as 'welcoming' as the Doctor looking out the TARDIS door as with the other Welcome tempplate). --Tangerineduel 13:28, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
